Illinois House lawmakers will not return to Springfield this week for the start of the 2016 legislative session. House Speaker Michael Madigan sent a letter to members Friday indicating they would not be returning this week as originally planned. House member Dwight Kay (R - Glen Carbon) tells The Big Z he is not pleased with that news.

Madigan's memo said the House will meet in a perfunctory session on Wednesday and Thursday, but will not meet in regular session until Wednesday, January 27th, which is the day of Governor Bruce Rauner's State of the State address. The Senate is still scheduled to hold a session on Wednesday.
