Three male students at Roxana High School have been charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the false report of shots fired at Roxana High School Tuesday afternoon. Two are 15, one is 16, and live in Wood River, Roxana and South Roxana. While the charges are felonies, the cases will remain in juvenile court.
The cause of the incident was a text message sent by a student to a family member claiming shots had been fired at the school. The family member then notified authorities that determined the story was false. All three were taken to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center in Edwardsville. Potential penalties range from supervision or probation to spending time in the juvenile department of corrections.
