Secretary of State Jesse White says he will be instructing his Safe Driver Advisory Council to consider ways to improve the disability parking program. The council, which was created by the General Assembly earlier this month, will meet for the first time in January.

White says the council should look at ways to strengthen penalties for those who abuse the program or use a deceased person’s disabled parking placard. He also wants tougher penalties for repeat offenders.
