A construction worker from Jerseyville has been identified as the victim in an accident at the site of rehab work on the Blanchette Bridge over the Missouri River. 51 year old Patrick Bray died after being struck by a 55-gallon drum as he worked on a barge near the bridge. He was an employee of Walsh Construction, one of the contractors on the job.
Authorities day the drum was being lifted by a crane when it fell on him. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard were nearby and responded to the scene, but Bray was pronounced dead near the site of the incident. Funeral visitation will take place later today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with a funeral Mass tomorrow at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
