The new sheriff in Jersey County is settling in to his new job. John Wimmersberg was unanimously approved by the Jersey County Board last week to fill the unexpired term of now-retired Sheriff Mark Kallal.
That unexpired term concludes November 30, 2018. Wimmersberg is a ten-year veteran of law enforcement that includes stints with the police departments in Grafton and Jerseyville. He is also a combat veteran, completing over 100 missions while deployed in Iraq in 2005 and 2006. He has also served with the Illinois National Guard.
