A ten-year veteran of law enforcement is expected to be named to replace the now-retired Jersey County Sheriff Mark Kallal.  Kallal announced his retirement about in June, and the county's Democratic Party has nominated John Wimmersberg to take over the office.

Wimmersberg is currently a Deputy with the department, a position he has held for three years.  The Jersey County Board is expected to accept Wimmersberg's nomination at its meeting tonight.  Kallal's unexpired term concludes November 30, 2018.  Deputy Kevin Klaas has been filling in as acting sheriff since Kallal's last day on August 4.
