The 145th Jersey County Fair starts today with harness racing at the grandstand. Harness racing and livestock shows usually dominate the first few days of activity, and that will be the case again this year. For a long time horses were on the track the first two days of the fair, but for the past few years, it has been scaled back to a single-day event.
Jersey County Fair Board President Phil Ringhausen says the first few days will be full of agriculturally themed events, which includes a resurging harness-racing program.
