The 149th Jersey County Fair starts Sunday, but there will be no harness racing on this year's schedule.  For a long time horses were on the track the first two days of the fair, but for the past few years, it has been scaled back to a single-day event.  Now, it is gone completely

Jersey County Fair Board Treasurer Tom Moore tells The Big Z the fair was once one of the strongholds of the horse racing industry.

He blames that on the proliferation of other gambling options across the state taking gamblers and their money away from the horse tracks, resulting in less prize money available for the competitors.
