A plan to bring public transportation to the Tri Counties of Jersey, Greene and Calhoun is closer than ever to happening.  It would not be a taxi service, but rather a ride on demand where a route is put together based on need, according to one of its supporters.  The plan is still in the final stages, and has just received formal support from the Jersey County Board following a special meeting this week.

Lacey Miller with Illinois Valley Senior Services tells The Big Z this will not be a service similar to the transit systems in Madison and St. Clair Counties, but there is room for growth.

Greene and Calhoun counties must still approve the plan before all of the paperwork can be submitted to IDOT, according to Miller.
