A local business is stepping up to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation this weekend. Alton based, Illinoise Productions is hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the public basketball courts in Bethalto's Central Park tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Jake Book, the owner of Illinoise Productions, says this is a cause that hits home with him.
Book says that organizers have eight teams committed so far and that another four prospective squads are lined up but that they would like to add a couple more teams.
The cost to register for the tournament in advance is $40 or you can pay $50 the day of the tournament. The cost covers a the three starters and an additional player who would be available as a substitute.
Proceeds from the tournament will be split between the JDRF and the winning teams. Book will also be accepting check donations at the basketball courts on Saturday. You can find out more about the tournament by contacting Book at 660-2945.
