Inmates in the St. Clair County jail allegedly planning to escape are now in solitary confinement. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Rick Watson, correction officers discovered the plan when they overheard conversations from the prisoners and kept seeing the same four people huddled in corners.
A surprise inspection then revealed sharp objects and a napkin stuck to the concrete ceiling with toothpaste used to cover up a fist-sized hole. Watson believes the County inmates' plan was to chisel away at the spot with the sharp object then knock a hole through the ceiling before chiseling their way through to freedom. The men are now being held in steel cells.
