It’s a fair within a fair for Illinois veterans at the DuQuoin State Fair. The Veterans Day festivities on Sunday, Aug. 25 will include the “Helping Our Hometown Heroes” Benefits Fair, with opportunities for vets to discover the variety of services offered them. “It’s a one stop shop for veterans and their family members where they can learn information about benefits they might be eligible for,” said Ryan Yantis of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.

Other events include a patriotic musical tribute by the Marty Shadowen Group, and two demonstrations on service dogs available for veterans. Vets and their familes can enter the fairgrounds free of charge.
