The Illinois State Police is reminding you to watch your speed today and everyday.  It's Illinois Speed Awareness Day.  According to recent information shared by the ISP, speed was responsible for 32.4% of all traffic fatalities in Illinois in 2014.

Illinois State Police Sergeant Derrick Taylor tells The Big Z there is a lot of truth in the saying "speed kills."

He says speeding on county and country roads can be more dangerous than on highways and interstates for a number of reasons, including the fact that many are being oiled and chipped at this time of year.
