The Illinois State Police have announced plans for their 7th Annual Youth Police Camp. The week-long residency camp will be held at the Alton Mental Health Center from July 15th-21st. It's designed to help troubled teens overcome their struggles through self discipline. The camp is based off of a military-model of discipline and will include para-military drills, physical fitness exercises, and classroom instruction on drug abuse resistance and bullying.
Special Agent Daron Barge of the Illinois State Police says that they also have a few goals for the camp.
Special Agent Barge also says that they will hold a graduation at the end of the week which will include individual awards for accomplishments as well as a certificate of completion.
The camp costs $10 to attend and is open to teenagers ages 13 to 15. For more information on the Youth Police Camp, contact Special Agent Daron Barge at 346-3842.
