Illinois State Police say they've reduced the backlog of applications for firearm owner's ID cards.  They're preparing for an onslaught of as many as 400-thousand applications for concealed carry permits in the coming year, so eliminating the stack of pending FOID applications was essential.

The backlog once stood at 50-thousand, but now Illinois State Police say only some three-thousand are pending.  Electronic concealed carry applications will be accepted starting January 5th.
