The Illinois State Police says the prospect of raising the speed limit to 70 miles per hour is alarming.  State Police First Deputy Director Brian Ley says most drivers know they can go a few miles over the speed limit without getting busted.  So if the speed limit is raised, he says that means motorists will be traveling even faster.

Ley comments

The Senate has already approved legislation boosting the speed limit on interstate highways to 70, but the House and Governor also need to ok the bill before it can take effect.
