Some lanes on I-270 in Madison County will be restricted beginning Monday January 12. IDOT workers will be replacing guardrails between Illinois Route 3 and Interstate 55-70. The work is set to begin on both the eastbound and westbound lanes, weather permitting, and wrap up by the end of June.
Illinois Department of Transportation Engineer John Scheibal tells The Big Z the hope is to cause as little disruption to traffic as possible, so there will be times during peak traffic periods that no lanes will be closed.

Those closures are planned for 7pm through 6am the following mornings. Traffic will be guided through the work zone utilizing flaggers, traffic control devices, and traffic control signing. The lane closures will be from the hours of 7pm to 6am the following day.
