A Sunday afternoon meeting at a business in rural Edwardsville turned into a vehicle theft, and could have turned deadly, according to a member of the Madison County Sheriff's Department.  The victim met a suspect to negotiate a car sale, or so he thought.  While on the test drive the suspect pulled a gun on the victim,

The victim fled from the vehicle after slapping the gun away from his face, causing it to discharge in the car.  Captain Mike Dixon tells The Big Z it is his hope someone who knows who did this will turn them in.

Dixon reminds that when doing transactions, a police station parking lot is likely going to be the safest place to go.  The suspect sped away at a high rate of speed, eventually crossing the Poplar Street Bridge into St. Louis.  You can see a picture of the stolen vehicle and a woman suspected to have been with the alleged car thief at this story to the left.  If you know anything about this case, you are urged to call your local police.
