An investigation is underway to see if an inmate at Graham Correctional Center tried to escape. Officials say a 27-year-old male inmate damaged his cell pretty good last Friday and managed to get through a ceiling and into the attic. The inmate was moved into a different cell and he damaged that one as well. He was later moved to Pontiac Correctional Center.
A DOC spokesman says at this point there’s no indication that the inmate was trying to get away but they’re required to treat it as an attempted escape because the wall and ceiling were damaged. The inmate only has about a month left on his sentence. It’s unlikely he’ll still be released in February.
