Election day is over, and the incumbents won the day in a number of races in Alton and Godfrey. Three incumbent Alton alderman survived challenges. Jim Ryan was reelected in the first ward, Mike Velloff held off a challenge in the third ward. And David Boulds returns in the seventh ward. In the second ward, Carolyn MacAfee defeated two challengers to win that open seat.
In Godfrey, incumbent Township Supervisor Doug Mueller wins reelection. And, the three incumbent Village Trustees, Mike Stumpf, Sarah Johnes, and Mark Stewart held off a single challenger.
Moe Hand was elected as trustee of the Godfrey Fire Protection District, defeating incumbent Steve Rynders.
And, Godfrey voters said no to an advisory referendum on the question of whether video gaming should be permitted in the village. The vote total was 1163 no, and 1135 yes.
Four of five candidates were elected trustees of the Hayner Public Library District. The winners were Dan St. Peters, Melissa Batchelor, Ray Botterbush, and Dana Wendt.
