State Representative Jim Durkin (pictured) says giving illegal immigrants the right to drive is a good step forward in making Illinois roads safer. But, he says the law doesn't go far enough to protect against fraud.
Durkin says people born in America shouldn't have to be fingerprinted because they have all types of documents that can prove their identity, like birth certificates and Social Security cards. He says having the immigrants fingerprinted will help determine if they're criminals or have active warrants out for their arrests. Durkin plans to introduce a bill which would require fingerprinting in the next few weeks.
