Illinois House and Senate Republicans have several questions about the February audit of the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority's Neighborhood Recovery Initiative and they want answers. Lawmakers pressed the Illinois Auditor General to refer the findings from that audit to the Executive Inspector General during a press conference in Springfield last week.


Among those raising questions was State Representative Dwight Kay (R-Glen Carbon). He says the audit reveals criminal activity.

In addition to further review, lawmakers pushed for the freezing of any unexpended dollars after the audits found that Governor Pat Quinn broke state law when he shuffled funds among various accounts in order to circumvent the legislators authority to annually appropriate General Fund dollars.
