Pumpkins are a big deal at this time of year.  Many Illinois residents might be surprised to find out their state produces more pumpkins than any other state in the U.S.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture says last year Illinois farms produced more than 16-thousand acres of fresh pumpkins and others for processing.  Another ten-thousand acres are used to grow the kind of pumpkins for making jack-o'-lanterns.
