The Illinois Association of Realtors says housing sales took a big jump in October. Sales were up 37-percent over last year. Association president Michael Oldnettel says it was the most homes sold in October since 2006. Homes were also selling for more money. The statewide median price went up three-percent. It's also about a 13-percent gain in the median price since February, which was the year's low point.
Oldenettel says the news is encouraging for both buyers and sellers and shows confidence in the housing market. The association says 68 counties in the state showed an increase in housing sales in October.
