Work on a portion of the Illinois 255 project is on hold, as issues with the sub base, or dirt, at one end of the project has caused the estimated completion date to be pushed back indefinitely. Originally projected to be open by Thanksgiving to Humbert Road, IDOT officials are now saying they are unsure what is causing the soil under the new pavementto sink and cause the roadway to crack.

IDOT field engineer Joe Gasaway says this is a new development.

Gasaway comments

He says corrective measures will be instituted. If the area stays isolated to the 400 yards or so near Seminary, it shouldn't be a significant hit financially, but if the problem grows, it could cost "a few more dollars." Gasaway says work is also taking place near the end of 255 where it will connect to 67, and at Ingham Lane, which is at the south end of the Corridor 67 Project.
