Two local ferries used to cross the Illinois River are re-opening today. The Kampsville Ferry will open today at 4pm, while the Brussels Ferry re-opened earlier this morning. As significant ice remains upstream and cold weather is forecast over the next several days, ferry users should expect intermittent closures might occur until river conditions improve to allow for the continuous operation of the ferry service.
Motorists should consider the Hardin Bridge for access to Calhoun County during these periods.
