The water in Wood River will be safe to drink next week, but may be discolored.  Hydrant flushing is planned May 2 - May 6.  If you are served by Wood River water, the city's Public Services Director tells The Big Z you may want to hold off on doing your laundry.

Steve Palen says it's necessary to flush the hydrants to remove any sediment that may have built up, and also to ensure the fire hydrants remain in good working condition.  As for the possibility of discolored water:
