Lawmakers are working on further limiting protestors at funerals in Illinois. Current law restricts when and where protestors, like the Westboro Baptist Church that rallies at military funerals, can stage their protests.

Legislation sponsored by Representative Jerry Costello Jr. of Belleville expands those boundaries, preventing protestors from one hour before and one hour after the service, instead of the current 30 minutes.

Costello comments

The bill with the new restrictions passed the house last week and will now be heard in the Illinois Senate.
