The area is known for it. Now it's time to celebrate it: horseradish. In Collinsville's Woodland Park today through Sunday, folks will be celebrating the 25th annual Horseradish Festival. There will be root-themed contests and games, as well as more traditional events and lie music.
Mike Pamatot is chairman of the festival:
He says the horseradish grown in the area is especially hot, since the ground has a significant amount of potash, left behind by glaciers during the last Ice Age.
