A home was destroyed in Dow overnight after a fire ripped through the structure before midnight. Two people inside were able to escape without injury, but the home is a total loss. Three local fire departments responded to the blaze that may have started when the occupants were trying to warm frozen water pipes.
The QEM, Godfrey and Brighton Fire Departments responded to the call around 11pm to a home in the 15-thousand block of Alva Street in Dow, which is in southern Jersey County near Routes 3 and 109.
