Illinois’ annual Holocaust remembrance brought a Skokie woman – 87-year-old survivor Magda Brown – to the Old State Capitol Thursday. “They would take the Jewish people out of their home … to a concentration camp, and, thus, the killing machine began,” said Brown, adding that when children would ask the “old timers” where their parents are, the answer would be a point to the smokestacks of the nearby crematory.
