The Illinois Department of Public Health is offering some tips to avoid food poisoning this holiday season. There’s always lots of parties over the holidays, and that means food sitting out a long time. Public health spokesperson Melaney Arnold says as a guest, you want to be careful eating things like raw oysters, egg drinks, mousse and bread pudding, and sushi at a party.
She says party hosts need to try and keep food at the proper temperature.
Arnold reminds to keep all counters, sponges, and towels clean as well. It’s estimated that as many as 250 thousand cases of food borne illness occur each year in Illinois.
