Swansea Demoocratic State Representative Jay Hoffman has cosponsored a resolution that would add a Southwestern Illinois site to the National Historic Park registry. House Joint Resolution 23 calls on Congress to create the Mississippian Culture National Historical Park by elevating Cahokia Mounds to the status of a National Historical Park.

Hoffman tells The Big Z that Cahokia Mounds holds a significant place in the history of the state.
