The Madison County Recorder’s Office will be hosting a special presentation Wednesday, following the discovery of a document many thought has been lost or never existed in the first place. The original plat from when Alton was settled nearly 200 years ago was recently discovered when it fell out of a book that had been in storage for an unknown amount of time.
Madison County Recorder Amy Meyer says the plat was found when a couple was doing genealogy research.
