This year's 42nd annual Alton Fall Historic House Tour is Sunday, October 12, and there are a handful of homes combined with a church, a business building, and the Amtrak Station on College Avenue.  The tour is expected to bring in visitors from around the area and both sides of the Mississippi River to see the historic spots around town.

The Alton Area Landmarks Association sponsors the tour.  Association president Terry Sharp says you can check out the numerous sites on the tour from noon-5pm.  He says the Amtrak Station will be taken out of service once the new Multi Modal Transportation Center is done.

Tickets are $12 per person, and are available at the Visitor's Center, the Hart House at 524 Belle Street, and at the corner of 4th and Henry streets.  There is also a shuttle tour to the residences on the tour, and the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is offering that ticket at a special price.  For more information, call 465-6676, or log on to
