This year's 42nd Annual Alton Fall Historic House Tour is coming up in a few weeks, and the local tourism office is offering a new twist on the traditional self-guided tour.  You can check out the numerous sites on the tour from noon-5pm on Sunday, October 12th, but from 1-3pm, the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau is offering a shuttle tour of the private residences.

Advance reservations are necessary for this 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. tour, which is a partnership with the Alton Area Landmarks Association, according to CVB President Brett Stawar.

Ticket prices are $25 per person for the shuttle tour, or $12 if you prefer to drive yourself.  A portion of the proceeds will also benefit Friends of Haskell Park.  For more information, call 465-6676, or log on to this story at
