One highway worker is dead and three others injured in a horrific crash this morning near Fairview Heights. I-DOT officials say the men were preparing to do pavement markings on Interstate 64 when a car crashed into the site, killing one man and sending three others to St. Louis area hospitals with unknown injuries.
It happened around 9:40am near O'Fallon at the Route 159 exit, when they were hit. The four were subcontracted by Killian to Briteway Striping and were working on a project for the Illinois Department of Transportation. The extent of the other workers' injuries hasn't been released yet. The driver was also injured in the crash, and likewise, the extent of his injuries is not known.
