Law enforcement at the state, county, and local level are gearing up for the 4th of July Holiday, which traditionally is one of the deadliest each year on Illinois roads. If the threat of death or injury doesn’t shy you away from drinking and driving, the costly and embarrassing process of being arrested for DUI should, according to many in law enforcement.
That includes being handcuffed, brought into the police stations, and blowing into a breathalyzer. Alton Police Chief David Hayes says they step up enforcement over the various holidays.
State and local police are beefing up their patrols and holding roadside safety checks starting now through the Fourth of July holiday, focusing on drunk drivers and those not buckled up.
