The career of longtime Edwardsville School District Superintendent Ed Hightower has been recognized in our nation’s capital. The educator, and well-known college basketball referee, will leave following the end of the 2014-15 school year, and Congressman Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) took a few moments this week to mark the occasion on Capital Hill.
Hightower officiated in his last college basketball game in December after 36 years…32 of those in the Big Ten Conference. But Davis says that’s only part of his story.

Hightower served as a teacher, and administrator in the Alton School District for 22 years before moving to head up the Edwardsville district in 1996. He had planned to retire three years ago, but agreed to remain on while the district dealt with difficult financial times.
