A suspected heroin operation has been broken up in Godfrey, but so far no charges have been filed. Illinois State Police report the bust took place after an undercover informant purchased heroin from a residence in the 6300 block of Lake Drive on four dates in late July and early August.
In previous, similar, investigations, authorities will conduct testing on the material that has been seized and then file appropriate charges against those involved based on the outcome of the tests. Seized in the search were suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia, a ledger and a cell phone. The bust comes as authorities in the Metro East crack down on suspected heroin dealers. Thirty-six people were charged in federal court earlier this week in connection with sales of the drug. Lake Drive is located off Pearl Street in Godfrey.
