Mother Nature is turning up the thermostat across the metro region.  An excessive heat warning is in effect through 7:00 tomorrow night for theSt. Louisarea including the River Bend.  TheUnited Wayhas activated several cooling centers and anyone who needs help beating the heat should go there today or tomorrow for a break.

Cooling centers in the River Bend include the Alton Salvation Army, open 8-4:30; the Wood River Roundhouse, open 8-Noon and 1-5pm; and the Godfrey Village Hall from 8-5.  Additional cooling centers inMadisonCountyare the Hamel Senior Citizens Center, the Chouteau Township Hall inGranite City, theCollinsvilleTownshipSeniorCitizensCenter, and Faith Countryside Homes inHighland.   If you need additional assistance, call 2-1-1 from a landline, or 800-427-4626 from any phone.
