More than half of all Illinois residents will be considered obese by the year 2030, according to a new study by the advocacy group Trust for America's Health. The group found that 27-percent of all Illinois residents right now are considered obese, andby 2030 that number will swell to 54-percent. Madison County is trying to fight that battle as a partner with the Obesity Reduction Committee.
Education is one of the best ways to attack obesity. Health Department Educator Lisa Modrusic says they will be handing out business cards at every opportunity that has a link to their website.
She says the activity guide was worked on for about a year, and was a collaboration between the health department, the committee, and Madison County Information Systems. You can find a link to the page through this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
