Riverbend Head Start & Family Services began supporting the families and individuals of Madison County in 1916.  Their pre-school classes begin on Tuesday, and there is still time to register your child.  Over one-thousand kids benefit from Head Start each year.

Head Start PR Director Debbie Edelman says of that number, about 350 kids live too far away to be bussed to class.

Edelman comments

Head Start offers early childhood education, as well as health and nutrition services.  For families and individuals, there is mental health counseling, social services, family literacy and various individual strengthening and family support services.   For more information, call 463-5933.
