The Alton YWCA on 3rd Street is hosting the Apocalypse Haunted House again this year, after a successful partnership last year with the organizers of the event.  Come Closer Productions has turned the historic structure into a place to go for a good scare, and for a good cause too, according to event planners.

YWCA Executive Director Andrea Lamer says this haunted house is based on post-apocalyptic scenarios.

She says last year, a number of visitors to the haunted house came from out of town, so she hopes to find a way to drive them to other local tourist attractions while on the Illinois side of the river.  Tickets are $15 plus tax at the door for ages 13 and over, children $13 plus tax.  While the Apocolypse is recommended for visitors 12 and up, a lights-on trick or treat event for families with children 12 or under is held from 4:30-6:30 every Saturday through November 1.  For more information, call 465-7774.
