Corn and soybeans are all harvested – or close enough – so the USDA's crop statistics service has turned its attention to wheat and sorghum in its weekly progress reports.

“I can't say for sure there's zero soybean fields and zero corn fields left to be harvested in the entire state,” says Illinois state statistician Mark Schleusener, “but less than one percent, I would say.”

Schleusener says sixty percent of the wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, with 86 percent emerged. The sorghum harvest is 94 percent complete.
