A windy, wet week cut down on some of the outdoor activity for Illinois farmers, but there is still good progress to report, says Mark Schleusener, deputy director of the Illinois field office of the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service. “Soybeans reached 80 percent harvested. That’s up eleven points from the last week, about the same as last year,” said Schleusener.

The latest crop report says Illinois averaged 1.1 inches of rain, about four-tenths more than average.  Only three and a half days were suitable for fieldwork.
