Alton State Senator Bill Haine is still looking for a way to pass a gamling expansion bill that will benefit all parties, but is doubtful the bill vetoed by Governor Quinn a few months ago will survive. Critical to the support of any such measure at the capital is the inclusion of slots at horse racing facilities, but Governor Pat Quinn appears to be dead-set against that idea.
Haine says for some, any expansion of gambling is a bad thing, so getting something through is going to be an uphill battle in the current veto session.
Governor Quinn says gambling at racetracks is too much and he won't support a measure that includes it. Quinn supports a version that would allow five additional casinos across the state, most of them in the Chicago area.
