As local lawmakers prepare for Wednesday's special session on pension reform, one is defending the Governor's decision to call lawmakers back to Springfield. Alton State Senator Bill Haine believes pension reform is the most pressing issue facing the state and that it must be resolved as soon as possible.

While he isn't certain that a solution will be found this week, he says that calling for this session is nothing like what former Governor Rod Blagojevich did during his time in office.

Haine Comments

Haine says that lawmakers are unlikely to consider any other pieces of major legislation during the special session and that the risk they run is that they could leave Springfield with no deal and walk out with nothing more than material that can be used as fuel for the campaigns of politicians seeking state offices later this year.
