The Alton Area Habitat for Humanity chapter is looking for a family that could use a home.  The group does not give away homes, but works with applicants so they can purchase the home at a lower cost than what they might pay through the traditional route.   The first step for the potential buyer would be to attend an upcoming orientation to find out what Habitat for Humanity is all about.

Which means actually performing work on the house, along side the Habitat volunteers.  To learn more about the process of applying there are two orientation meetings this week...tonight at 6:00 at the Community Learning Center at St. Patrick's School in Alton, or Thursday at 6:30pm at the Alton Police Headquarters.  There are two more next weekend, and to learn more go to or call 465-8531.
