When you see a state trooper in your rear view mirror, that trooper is almost assuredly carrying a pistol and also has a rifle, a shotgun or both somewhere in the car.  Police are trying to stay a step ahead of the other side. “Manufacturers are becoming a little bit more creative,” says Sgt. “Most toy guns should have the colored tip on the ends, but … you can find (real) guns that are pink, you can find them that are green … and people that are often trying to do bad with guns often paint their guns to look like toy guns.”  State police showed different types of weapons to reporters during a Springfield seminar sponsored by the Illinois News Broadcasters Association.
